Henrietta Dubrey Art Exhibition

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I just got back from Italy mixing work and pleasure. Been working on a project which has been so nice, very slow but really enjoyable. Still have lots of small details to sort out but finally all finishes are sorted. It is looking lovely and I am kicking myself I didn't take any pictures to share with you. In the mean time back in London I popped down to Skandium to see the art exhibition of Henrietta Dubrey. I love her oil paintings as they are reminiscence of influences from Picasso and Matisse mixed together. I adore her vivacious colours and basically her freedom of movement. Dubrey says 'my work is generally described as abstract, although I would describe my paintings as autobiographical deconstructions and reconstructions of life'. I really like that description, it's exactly what her art pieces convey.

Henrietta now lives and works in West Penwith on the north coast of Cornwall. Her inspirations range from books, magazines, music to family life and holidays. It clearly shows in her work and if her curriculum is anything to go by, it really is rather impressive. Having studied painting in London at the Byam Shaw School of Art, Wimbledon School of Art and the Royal Academy Schools in the late 1980s she really is a raw talent. What do you think? Fashion Illustrator Chesley McLaren

Good morning from yet another dull grey breezy London. Here are some beautiful images to start the week with a bang. Whenever I see bright coloured fashion Illustrations I go weak at the knees. It's the way the lines flow freely and the mix of colours just combine beautifully. I always find them as a great source of inspiration for putting colour schemes together.

These delicious pictures are drawn by Chesley McLaren who started out as a fashion designer after graduating but who was encouraged to show her illustrations, I think we can see why. Since then she has never looked back and has become recognised as 'The French Illustrator in New York'. Chesley still works in the fashion world as she has just designed her new collection 'Les Demoiselles de Mode'.

Simply Obsessilicious

Have you heard of Obsessilicious? Apart from being a cool name it's a pretty cool blog too. However I only discovered his Etsy shop Yumalum this weekend selling fantastic prints. Wow! They are fun, quirky, edgy and the colours are stunning. He sells a vast range of cards, posters and prints, perfect to add some zest to your homes. Let me know what you think because I am loving them especially the Mad Men prints!

Doris Riachy

I'm a big fan of art in all forms and I love discovering new talent. I recently came across this very talented Artist and I was blown away by her work. She does the most amazing abstracts, so bold and bright that I find them very enchanting. I absolutely love the large scale canvases, bold brush strokes, vibrant colours and textured surfaces she uses.

The Artist in question is Doris Riachy, born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, she lived in Paris for several years before moving to England in 1979. She now lives with her family and works in Central London.

Striking Canvases

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are now ready to get back into the swing of things. I recently came across these statement wall canvases and so I just had to share them with you.

Surface View has a range of stylish wall art which includes artworks from museum collections, classic photographs and abstract patterns, all which are blown up onto very striking canvases. My favourite collection is from the late textile designer Zina de Plagny. The designs featured in this collection were created in Paris in the late 40s and early 50s - an age of true glamour and vibrant creativity. They were recently rediscovered by her daughter as they were lying buried in an archive for half a century!!

Well thank goodness for this discovery as I truly love the bright lush colours used and am struck at the modernity of these designs. As well as art canvases they can also be ordered as blinds and Murals. Here is a selection of my favourites!
