Day Home Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

While it's dark and thundery here in Italy, I thought I would immerse myself into something more inspiring and appropriate for the upcoming season. I am dreaming of those summer evenings, relaxing with friends on the beach and enjoying their company. Therefore it is perfect for me to share some images from the Spring/Summer Day Home collection from Birger et Mikkelsen. Earthy, whimsical mixed with some Scandinavian chic -it really is oh so dreamy!

Sonia Rykiel Maison 2012 Collection

I don't know about you, but I have had enough of this cold weather and frankly would like Spring to come as soon as possible. But as we can't have everything in life, I can at least start dreaming about the upcoming season and this is exactly what I'm doing today. I love the New collection from Sonia Rykiel Maison 2012. With seven new designs it is ultra feminine and bang on trend with this year's key Spring looks. Yes, I feel much better already...

Rue Visconti - Romantic roses in soft colours interspersed with black on supple heavy linen.

Rue Princesse - Roses amidst the writing for this reversible woven Jacquard.

Rue Casanova - A big dog-tooth check in vibrant heavy cotton.

One To Watch: Bianca Lorenne

There are some fabulous designers showcasing at this years interiors Home show. On today's post I want to introduce you to Alison Nottingham, founder of Bianca Lorenne, a lovely New Zealand brand that produces truly exquisite bed linens and home textiles. January 2012 sees the UK launch of this gorgeous brand. I am completely besotted with her gorgeous accessories and cannot wait to meet the lovely Alison in Person.
Here Alison tells us a little bit more about herself and her brand.
When did you realise you had a passion for design?
I have always loved quilting and embroidery and it was a hobby of mine that I did at every spare moment!!! Along with my passion for interiors, it seemed a perfect fit to design a range of quality hand crafted special pieces of bed linen with a difference.

Where do you inspirations come from?
I draw design influences and inspirations from different centuries, cultures, traditions and techniques to provide our unique and exclusive collections.  I often  follow fashion techniques -  dressing your bed instead of yourself.  We strive to design timeless classics, with a slight quirky edge for that “wow” look.  Sometimes a colour, a texture, a garment or even something simple as an embossed plate can provide inspiration for a new collection.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
My highlight has been starting Bianca Lorenne (named after my daughters Bianca and Lauren) 6 years ago. Building and developing a reputable brand that has grown to being distributed in New Zealand and Australia and now our exciting new launch into the UK . It is a career I absolutely adore!

What do you hope to achieve in 5 years time?
To continue to design inspirational and creative hand crafted bed linen and complementary products. To grow the range and build the Bianca Lorenne brand.  I’d also like to distribute the product to other countries.

What famous artists/designers do you admire or inspires you the most?
Sibella Court, Trelise Cooper and Terence Conran.
In five words how would you describe yourself?
Passionate, enthusiastic, motivated, fun loving and caring.

What 5 things couldn't you live with out?
Good coffee, summer camping holidays, nice sheets, shoes (a girl can never have too many), my friends & family.

Bianca Lorenne will be launching at Home this Sunday 15th January - 17th, If you're in London then do make sure to pop by.

I love the new wall paper collections from Clarke & Clarke. Showstoppers is the name of the collection and as the name suggests it is full of eye candy and drop-dead gorgeous wallcoverings.

A mix of both classic and contemporary patterns, accompanied by 30 colours, this collection is just insanely exquisite. From pretty floral feminine patterns to bold designs, a collection to suit all individual needs. So which one is your favourite?

Little Greene At Decorex

Without a doubt one of my favourite stands at Decorex was from Little Greene.  For those that were there, don't you agree with me that it was so much fun? Vibrant and quirky are just a few words to describe it. They were showcasing their new collection 'Retrospectives' where their colour range is absolutely fabulous. For more info do check out Heart Home's blog as I couldn't resist but dedicate a post to them ;)

LDF: Lee Broom Introduces Salon Collection

For those of you who have been following my blog, know that I adore anything that Lee Broom designs. Therefore I was really excited to attend his preview party for his new collection, Salon.

Wow is all I can say. This collection consists of six furniture pieces inspired by the curvaceous lines of 1930s upholstery, contrasted with modern stud detailing in either gold or gunmetal. The result? Bold, sexy and so rock 'n' roll, absolutely love it!

Vintage Editions By Graham & Brown

I am loving the new collection of ‘Vintage Editions’ wallpapers designed by Graham & Brown in collaboration with Wayne Hemmingway. It launches this week as part of the Vintage Festival happening on London’s Southbank. It's a great celebration of the very best in British style from decades gone by.  They have come up with four retro style designs that I think are fabulous, what do you think?

This design is called Loopy Lines, love the colour and love the fact they look like flowing books....

Deco Diamond is probably one of my favourites, Inspired by 1930s glamour, this Art-Deco pattern is just gorgeous.

Stretched Diamond is another cool design from the collection. Love the earthy mustard tone colours.

Last in the collection is Grid which combines a 1950s quirky retro print, how fun!

Liberty Art Fabrics Spring/Summer 2011

I really do adore Liberty’s new collection of fabrics for Spring/Summer 2011 which is inspired by the wonderful world of children’s illustration. Just adorable and perfect for this time of year! There are fifty new designs featured in the collection and what's even more special is that the Liberty Art Fabrics Design Studio has collaborated with a selection of children’s book illustrators, up and coming young talent such as Sally Haysom and graduates from Falmouth College of Art and Design and award winning illustrators including Lauren Child, David McKee, Brian Wildsmith, Jane Ray, Emma Chichester Clark and Quentin Blake to name a few. The result is fresh, playful and completely enchanting with a colour palette that ranges from beautiful soft delicate shades to the deepest darkest hues of the fairy tale forest.

Here is a selection of a few designers mentioned where it shows their illustrations translated into their gorgeous fabrics for this stunning collection. I am really loving this collaboration aren't you? It is just so sweet.

Charlie's Paisley by Quentin Blake.

Plum Dog by Emma Chichester Clark.

Tom's Jet by Brian Wildsmith.

Princess Emerald by Sally Haysom.

More Collections From Osborne & Little

After going on about my favourite collection from Zoe Murphy I wanted to talk about a few other collections that have caught my eye from Osborne & Little. I am loving the vast range and as always O&B never disappoints, I love going to their showroom so much. Anyway here is a round-up of some of my favourite collections...

Grand Tour Collection
This is probably one of my favourites. Gorgeous delicately drawn fabric & wallpaper designs which take inspiration from the artistic and architectural influences from Italy, especially Venice. Probably a big reason why in hindsight I am drawn to this, it's the beloved city of my grandmother.

Top left is the 'Loggia' wallpaper which is an absolute favourite of mine from the collection, £78.00 per roll. Another gorgeous print on the right is the 'Accademia' £41.50  per roll.

Top left you will find blind prints is the 'Vedute', £45 per metre, and wallpaper 'Colleoni', £46 per roll.

Xanadu Collection
I love this collection especially the two dramatic silk stripe fabrics coloured in the distinctive Lorca style. Stripes are so trendy right now whether it's in the fashion world or in interiors, and I rather like this trend.

Top left is a gorgeous colour way fabric  'Parana' stripe on wall £82 per metre, Sofa 'Dragon' £89 per metre, bottom edge 'Conga' £145 per metre, Cushions (left) 'Odalia' £120 per metre, (right) 'Samba' £120 per metre. Top right is another lovely colour way fabric, reminiscent of the sea, 'Xanadu stripe' on wall £82 per metre.

Karavansara Collection
A delicate and exotic collection full of silks and embroideries with orient influences. I find it very pretty indeed and very relaxing. The Kolam and Serai are my must haves.

Top left, a gorgeous feminine throw 'Kolam' £120 per metre, trimmed with delicate 'Satin Beaded Braid', £47 per metre. Top right lovely Cushions (square) 'Kolam', (round) 'Serai' £97 per metre.
