Maria Sharapova has done well in this year's Bank of the West Classic making into the final. She met Victoria Azarenka who won the defending champion and top seeded Samantha Stosur.Victoria has shown she has the talent to move on as a emerging tennis champion and winning the three times Grand Slam champion has confirmed that. What a game she had winning the three champions. It was also her birthday the day before the match and after winning she said she want more cake and ice cream.

Maria Sharapova moving on at Bank of West Classic tournament

Maria Sharapova back on focus.

Maria Sharapova with her power shot again.

Maria Sharapova has moved on to the semi-finals of the Bank of West Classic tournament and she had a marathon game of 2 hours and 47 minutes with fellow Russsian Elena Dementieva before doing so. It was also at this match I felt that Maria Sharapova is back on something. She has shown some of her best moves and probably the determination to win and more importantly the focus in the game.

It is not that she is not good but sometimes it seems she is just not that focus. She has managed to outlast the Elena the second seeded of the game at this match and shown her focus despite the longer hours of game than usual. It was a good match both had played well.

Bartoli the defending champion had lost to Eighth-seeded Victoria Azarenka and top seeded Samantha Stosur continued to advance after wining 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 at the game.

France's Marion Bartoli won the championship match of the Bank of the West Classic. The ranked eight seeded met Venus Williams two years ago and had lost to her in straight sets. At the final she had won Venus 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. To some, Marion had shocked the spectators and Venus as she had played really against against Venus who seems to be the more expected winner of the game after winning Russian giants Maria Sharapova and Elena Dementieva.

It was a no hard feeling game after the match as the players shook hands with each other. Venus Williams said marion was too good at the match and she had a great tournament.

What's next for many are awaiting for will be the US open where top players will be there competing with one another. Over there, it is again another set of matches of tennis giants playing with one another to win the championship.

Elena Dementieva after the match.

Venus Williams defeated Maria Sharapova 6-2, 6-2 at the Bank of the West Classic quarterfinals. Then after that at the semi-finals ranked third seed Williams met with fourth-seeded Russian Elena Dementieva and won 6-0, 6-1 to reach to the final. Maria Sharapova said that Venus's shots were fast and strong and she does not allow herself to make any errors. It was a game that she conceded to her.

Same for Elena Dementieva, she said that Venus played really well at the game. Now at the final, Venus Williams will meet Bartoli from France who won a roller-coaster match against Samantha Stosur 6-3, 1-6, 6-1. Samantha Stosur won Venus's sister, Wimbledon champion Serena Williams at the quarter finals.

Venus and Bartoli had actually met each other two years ago and she hammered Bartoli in straight sets when they played for the All England club. Two years have since passed, now let's see how they will fare again with each other at the final.

Maria Kirilenko another fellow Russian who played with Elena Dementieva.

Elena Dementieva, the Olympic champion won Maria Kirilenko 6-1 6-2 and will be joining Maria Sharapova in the third round. She mentioned that it was always great to come back and play with someone who is at the top of the game. She is always relish playing with top players and she said that she would love to play against Maria Sharapova. Both professional players seems to pretty good at the game and maybe they will have a chance to meet each other after all. Elena Dementieva seems to be the more experienced player and she will utilise her knowledge to come up with something or technique to counter against Maria Sharapova's on form skills.

Yes Maria is back in the games. Maria Sharapova has won her first round against Japanese Player Ai Sugiyama 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 after some struggles but has managed to give plenty of strong shots at the last game to win. Now she has just won fifth seed Nadia Petrova 6-1 6-2 on Wednesday to move into the quarter-finals. She said against an opponent like Nadia Petrova, she has to play really well which she did as she gave huge returns and accurate servings to win her fello russian. Maria will be playing against the winner of the match between second seed Venus Williams and Russia's Alla Kudryavtseva in the next match. It seems that Maria has already recovered pretty much from her injury and she seems to be all ready to continue to march on to the finals.
