Lots of Big Weddings going on--The Monaco Royal Wedding and yesterday: Supermodel Kate Moss wed The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince at St Peter's Church in the Cotswolds, west-central England.

Ever the rebel, Kate stayed true to her close friend (ignoring political correctness) and wore a custom John Galliano bias-cut sequined gold-leaf embroidered silk creme-colored gown while her new hubby wore a Stefano Pilati for YSL light blue double-breasted suit. Love his YSL "Johnny Boots" (my favorite! I own Two and looking for more!!!). I also love how the shirt-cuffs are completely showing and how dapper his entire ensemble looks. Rocker Chic.

Speaking of shoes, Shoe Couturier Manolo Blahnik designed a special pair of heels for Kate which included blue insoles for the "something blue".

The silk tulle veil--which also had embroidered flowers--was wrapped in a 1920's/1930's style, around her loose curls, hair style done by hair stylist to the Top Models and Stars, Sam McKnight.

Kate had 15 (!) bridesmaids--all wearing pretty flower headbands--including her daughter Lila. Guests in attendance were Naomi Campbell in Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci, Vogue Editor Anna Wintour (who has been in England for Wimbledon), Stella McCartney, Jude Law and "my Macy's girl" Kelly Osbourne.

Mari Testino (above) was the "official" photographer (you would think he would use a more, say "professional" camera??!!) and it was reported that the wedding was to be exclusively covered by American Vogue. Vogue is planning a large spread in the September Issue (naturally). Inquiring minds want to know: Does that mean that Vogue payed for part of the wedding? Regardless of who payed, looking at the fact that these photos are out and look very "official photos"-esque, clearly there was either not a "Vogue Exclusive" or someone is in BIG trouble! Either way, the new Bride and Groom looked FAB! This is an example of a perfect "Hipster Nuptial".

Tonight, following the Civil Ceremony of Prince Albert II of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock (now Princess Charlene), there was a "Celebration in Honor of the Wedding" music concert in Monaco's Port Hercules with French singer Jean-Michel Jarre and of course, the new bride and groom attended--as well as close family and Top Young European Royals:

Princess Caroline of Hanover and her daughter, Charlotte Casiraghi--Caroline wore blue Chanel and her daughter, was in ivory organza and sequin drop-waist Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2011 (sans the pants)

The Danish Royal House of Glücksburg were present in Crown Prince Frederick and Crown Princess Mary (right) as well as Prince Joaquim and Princess Marie (left)--It's all about the peep-toe pump for these Princesses. I like both dresses but Mary's salmon-colored one-shoulder dress, I admit, is my favorite!

Belgium: The Duke and Duchess of Brabant, Prince Philippe and Mathilde of Belgium--Mathilde wore an emerald green silk cowl-neck dress with a side draped skirt, and matching strappy heels.

The Netherlands: Princess Maxima and Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange and heir apparent to the throne of The Netherlands--Maxima looked chic in a one-shoulder twisted knot dress

Norway: HRH Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway--wearing an ivory dress with lace neck detail.

We Love This Book

It's not often I put the same posting on more than one of my blogs but this deserves it so I've put it on both Rambles from my Chair and A Book Every Six Days.

If you live in the UK and have £8.95 to spare I strongly recommend you invest it in a year’s subscription to this new quarterly magazine (The Launch Issue can be picked up free at some booksellers). For the price of about four or five Sunday Newspapers you get a tremendous new magazine which contains reviews, a short story, feature articles, and just about everything bookish. Even the adverts are interesting.

Mind you, the Launch Issue has already made me add lots of books to my Amazon wishlist so perhaps it’s going to work out a lot more expensive than the £8.95 !

I also noticed a load of books that other members of the family might be interested to know about. Daughter-who-takes-photos and Friend-who-loves-otters might like to see if Alice Hart’s book ‘Vegetarian’ is in the library. It has 141 recipes celebrating fresh seasonal ingredients and the magazine shows one of the recipes as an example. They may also like to be aware that ‘Map of a Nation’, a biography of the Ordnance Survey by Rachel Hewett is now available in paperback.

In view of their intention of having clucky things in the garden, Food-loving-daughter and Son-in-law-who-cooks might be interested to know that in August there will be a book called ‘Keeping Chickens for Dummies’ published (authors Pammy Riggs, et al). The magazine even has ten tips for healthy chickens! Food-loving-daughter may also enjoy the article on Forensic Fiction in the launch issue while Son-in-law-who-cooks might like to check out the book ‘Free Radicals’ by Michael Brooks..

Brother-who-blogs will be pleased to hear there is a new 44 Scotland Street novel out by Alexander McCall Smith in August – ‘Bertie plays the blues’. ‘Precious and the Monkeys’ by the same author is described as a charming book for all ages and is also to appear in August while September sees an addition to his Isabel Dalhousie series - ‘The Forgotten Affairs of Youth’.

Partner-who-loves-tea should enjoy the sociology book ‘Join the Club’, a look at groups and the influence of peer pressure, by Tina Rosenberg. ‘The Psychopath Test’ by Jon Ronson also looks to be her sort of book but I need to be careful how I word that. I’m not suggesting Jo needs to take it but some of her clients might! It concerned me a little that this “entertaining, wry and insightful commentary on the ‘madness industry’” was listed under humour!

Yes kids, it's ANOTHER Royal Wedding!! This time around it's the Wedding of one of the wealthiest Royals in the entire World, Prince Albert II of Monaco (Prince Rainer and Princess Grace's son and ruler of the tiny European Principality) with "commoner" Charlene Wittstock who originally hails from Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and was a former Olympic swimmer for the South African team. Tomorrow (Saturday) is the actual Church Nuptials (and the wedding gown) along with the Royal Guests including Model-Fashion Designers-Glitterati Galore...But today was the Civil Ceremony, celebrated at the Prince's Palace in Monaco, of course.

The bride wore a light blue ensemble, consisting of a fitted crepe jacket and silk and lace trimmed palazzo pants. The ensemble is a collaboration between the bride and designer Karl Lagerfeld (The jacket does have that "Chanel" silhouette with the seam in the sleeves, etc.). In an interview with vogue.com she stated:
“We wanted something to match the color of my eyes. It is my creation and I’m proud of it. It’s feminine and keeps with tradition yet has a little twist that reflects my personal style. I thought it was a nice change to go for trousers instead of a skirt, especially since I’m an athlete and have always kept my clothes clean and simple.”

After the Civil Ceremony, they made an appearance in the Palace's balcony and kissed in front of their Moneguasque subjects cheering and waving below. The ceremony was attended by close family members of both the bride and groom...

Including the ever-so-chic Princess Caroline of Hanover, her sister Princess Stephanie and Camille Gottlieb, Princess Stephanie's third daughter (seen above in one of the Palace's balconies).

Last week, as part of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM's 2011 "3 Days of Fashion", I drove down to San Diego--along with my NIKOLAKI partner David Paul--to make my "Guest Appearance". First, we had to put our little doggy, Benny, in "Doggy Day Care" so he would have lots of play time, while his "daddies" went down to San Diego for the day. After an almost three-hour drive down (oh that LA to San Diego traffic!), we finally made it! Just in time...

The FIDM San Diego Campus is located right next to the spectacular Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. And wouldn't you know it: There was a Padres Baseball Game going on right at the same time!!! At first I didn't realize it and thought "Boy, are ALL these people with shorts and flip flops going to the FIDM 3 Days of Fashion???" I somehow forgot to see all their Padres caps, banners, flags and baseball jerseys!! Ooops...

But yes, once inside the campus, I got ready for my appearance. This was the last day of this event for them---and they had been in different workshops throughout the day, learning the intricacies of draping, sketching, trend spotting.

But now, they were going to see some FASHION with a Capital "F"...as I brought one of my FAVE Runway models, Amanda Fields (who also drove down from Los Angeles), to show the "3 Days of Fashion" students--over 100 of them--some of my NIKOLAKI gowns and dresses.

You should have seen all the camera phones go up as Amanda sauntered into the room each time with a different gown/dress. It was like "mini paparazzi"!!! Afterward, I gave away prizes (the most fun were the "Best Dressed of FIDM San Diego 3 Days of Fashion" prizes!) and of course, I signed bags, t-shirts, sweatshirts...you name it, I signed it!

We also took great photos with the FAB Petco Park Padres Baseball Game going on in the back! An additional "special bonus" of coming down to San Diego was that David's mom and nieces--the super pretty Emilie and Samantha...

Got to attend the event as well--and spend some time with "Uncle David". The girls enjoyed my lecture I think--David's mom even said I should go into the business of being an "Inspirational Speaker"...Who knows, there's still time!!! After the event, David's mom, treated us to a delicious--yet quick--dinner nearby and then we were on our way (it was 7:30pm and we had only 2 1/2 hrs to make it back before the Doggy Day Care closed. In case you were wondering, we got there at 9:56!!! Just in time...

Another "Transformers" Red Carpet...Another Fabulous Gown...Last week, English model/actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked like a Silver Screen Goddess in a Naeem Khan backless silver gown at the Germany Premiere of "Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon" and just days ago on Tuesday, she glammed it up once again on the red carpet for the New York City premiere of the film.

This time, she wore a strapless scarlet red metallic silk lame gown by fellow Brit, designer Antonio Berardi from his Fall 2011 Collection. The gown featured interesting seaming detail and a slit so high...well, there might have been a "peek-a-boo" moment, depending on which way she walked and where the photogs were positioned.

But alas, no such thing! Miss Rosie is a PRO! Rosie looked ravishing! I'm usually not a fan of slits that high, especially when it's attached to some crazy feathered-and-cheap-diamante gown on a Miss USA contestant...but here, HUNEY! It is fantastic! She looked like "Jessica Rabbit" for 2011!!! I love that Rosie is embracing THE GOWNS! And why not darling! Can someone give her more red carpet premieres to attend?? Like pronto!
