Tournaments In Belgium, Germany Will Gauge Mohd Azizulhasni's Standing

KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 (Bernama) -- A series of cycling tournaments in Belgium and Germany which would be participated by national track cyclist Mohd Azizulhasni Awang next month will serve as a yardstick to determine his standing among the world's leading cyclists.

Malaysian National Cycling Federation deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamad said the athlete could also benefit from the tournaments to assess the performance of his rivals at the London Olympics which will begin on July 22.

"For the tournaments in Belgium and Germany, we are not setting any target. However, we will use the opportunity to assess the performance of the world's leading cyclists who will also take part in the tournament," he told Bernama.

The athlete, who is also known as "The Pocketrocketman" will take part in his favourite keirin and 200-metre sprint at the upcoming Olympics.

Other than Mohd Azizulhasni, the back-up Olympic Games cyclist Josiah Ng and the national women's track cyclist Fatehah Mustapa will also leave for Belgium to take part in the training programme and join several tournaments.
