KUALA TERENGGANU, July 26 (Bernama) -- Terengganu athletes competing in the London Olympics will not feel homesick as either their father or mother will be by their side in London when the games open tomorrow.
Terengganu State Sports Council director Zainal Abidin Hussin said the Terengganu state government would sponsor the trips of parents whose children are competing in the Olympics.
"The initiative is to boost the confidence of the athletes in their quest for success," he told Bernama Thursday.
Zainal Abidin said Terengganu athletes competing in the London Olympics are cyclists Adiq Husaini Othman, Amir Mustafa Rosli, Fatihah Mustafa, Azizul Hasni Awang and archers Khairul Anuar Mohamad and Nurul Syafiqah Hashim.
He said the first batch comprising either the father or mother of athletes had left the Sultan Mahmud Airport, to London, starting yesterday.
