Not So Smooth Sailing For Khairulnizam After Two Races

LONDON, July 31 (Bernama) -- National sailor Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy failed to better his position in the second race of the Men's Laser event as he dropped five rungs from the 42nd position in the first race Monday.

In the event held at Weymouth and Portland waters, Khairulnizam finished 42nd out of 49 sailors with 3.15 demerit points in the first race and dropped to number 47 after collecting 4.20 points in the second race.

The demerit points shows the sailor's time adrift from the race leader.

Australian Tom Slingsby currently leads the rest with a time of 56 minutes 25 second.

The Men's Laser event will continue for another four days, with two races held every day.

On the last day of the event, the top 10 sailors with less demerit points will race in the elimination round to decide the top three winners.
