Chef-de-Mission to the London Olympics, Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said the tentative date for the flag handing ceremony at the Prime Minister's office in Putrajaya was July 11.
"All athletes and officials going for the London Olympics will be at the flag handing ceremony. The significance of the flag handing is to show the government's support for the Olympics," he told reporters after chairing a managers meeting for sports that qualified to London.
Ahmad Sarji said the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) has yet to name the flag-bearer for the Olympics opening ceremony on July 27.
Thus far, 28 athletes have qualified for the Olympics on merit and via wildcard tickets.
Among them are eight from diving, badminton (6), cycling (5), archery (4), and one each from fencing, sailing, shooting, open sea swimming and athletics.
